Telemarketing Tips - avoid the pitfalls, get the best return on your calls.

I’ve just been called by a telemarketer.

I'm the first to say that telemarketing isn't an easy job. But you don't need to make it harder on yourself.

Let's look at the mistakes he made, and then I'll give you the link to our special report where it shows you the things you can do to make proactive outbound calls that strengthen your business.

Don't upset the prospect
He was the third person to call me in two weeks, and as I had asked the other two people to remove our details from their database as I wasn't interested, the call didn't have the best of starts.

Don't lie or try to trick the prospect
He was, as his colleagues had been, economical with the truth in who he was calling from. Telemarketing intro's or opening lines can be difficult to come up with but how does lying help you to do business?

Don't read a script
He didn't pause for breathe, he couldn't understand why "I wasn't on board" given the reams of words ( none of which were demonstrating any benefit to me ) he was diligently reading to me. They didn't persuade me the first time I heard the script, why would the third time, same script be any different?

Don't try to be smart when faced with objections
When he asked me again why I wasn't on board. I explained that I don't like to be badgered, to which he replied "so if I left you alone for two weeks and then called you'd go ahead"

Not the most persuasive approach that I've heard.

This may not be his fault, he had been trained into boxing with the prospect.

His approach was out of date.

Good telemarketing is about developing a relationship with a customer or prospect that leads you to your most wanted response.
