How to write business email
How to write business email: we sent 247 billion emails a day, but the rules for sending business emails are different.
Poor email communication can
cost customers,
lose money, and cause tensions between colleagues.
So What are the rules for good email communication
Subject Line – the most important thing if you want to have your email found and read. Keep it short, snappy & relevant
Put yourself in your readers shoes
Use short sentences that read easily.
Read it before you send it, once you’ve hit sent it’s gone. I worked with a sales rep once who missed the "G" out of Angus and lost a key client
And if you don’t need a reply let them know at the end of a mail that there is no need to reply
And finally ………check your spelling – the spell checker is not always your friend. ( We saw a restaurant menu that included baked aborigines rather than aubergines) as this poem demonstrates
Spell Chequer Poem
Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.
Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight four it two say
Weather eye am wrong oar write
It shows me strait a weigh.
As soon as a mist ache is maid
It nose bee fore two long
And eye can put the error rite
Its rare lea ever wrong.
